THE EVANS FAMILY TO RELEASE “DIVINE DISRUPTION: HOLDING ONTO FAITH WHEN LIFE BREAKS YOUR HEART” ON NOVEMBER 9
A Groundbreaking Book, “Divine Disruption” is the First Book Written by a Family of Faith Leaders
DALLAS – Sept. 28, 2021 – Dr. Tony Evans and his four children, announced the forthcoming release of their book, “Divine Disruption: Holding on to Faith When Life Breaks Your Heart,” a first-of-its-kind memoir that chronicles the family’s struggles to overcome the loss of eight family members in less than two years—a story they tell against the backdrop of the impending COVID-19 crisis.
Now available for pre-order, “Divine Disruption” will be released on November 9 and is the first book written by a family of faith leaders. Together with their father, the authors include Priscilla Shirer, Chrystal Evans Hurst, Anthony Evans and Jonathan Evans. The family of pastors and faith leaders—all of whom are previously published authors— speak candidly about leaning on one another for support and, most importantly, how their faith helped them cope with the loss of the family’s matriarch Lois Evans.
“We hope this book provides hope to people, whether they’re struggling with the death of a family member, sickness, loss of a job, relationship problems, or any of the innumerable difficulties we face on a daily basis,” said Anthony Evans, who spearheaded the book project. “Especially now, with the pandemic continuing to wreak havoc in our communities, we hope that “Divine Disruption offers a small measure of solace to the many people who are suffering.”
The two-part, 16-chapter book reads like an intimate conversation between a tight-knit family. In each chapter, the authors share their personal recollections, speaking in their own unique voices while also capturing the genuine love and playfulness between the siblings and their parents.
Throughout the first half of the book, we follow the Evans family as they cope with one tragedy after the next, from the sudden death of their 38-year-old cousin, Wynter, to the loss of an aunt, uncle, grandfather and a health scare for one of the siblings—all of which culminates with the recurring cancer diagnosis and subsequent death of Lois Evans.
In the book’s second half, the authors struggle to answer many of life’s existential questions and, along with the rest of the world, attempt to make sense of the once-in-a-lifetime pandemic. They tie their own family’s loss to the pain families around the world are feeling, positing that a “divine disruption,” on par with a global pandemic, requires a period of “divine rest.”
“When you face these seemingly insurmountable challenges, you have to take time out and really listen to God’s message,” said Dr. Tony Evans. “This is just one family’s story, but we hope it will allow other people and families to think deeply and reaffirm their faith in God and the blessings to come.”
“Divine Disruption” is the first project in the family’s Kingdom Legacy, a family ministry that pays tribute to their matriarch and her strength, legacy and faithfulness.
